The first lessons on the bread and butter subject was over in less than an hour. The methodology was didactic but the approach, more participatory. The theory part was more of a challenge but the practical part was even more challenging!
The platoon of ants that raided the teacher's table, searching for strains and strands in the broken wraps of the sweet from yeaterday, made a tactical move beneath the spine of a note book. The teacher had a rather unique affinity (love these creatures soft-pedalling on the naked parts of her body!) to these insects whose learning behaviours are linked to interactive teaching.
One feeling that I will never be able to experience!!! Should i remove all the hair on my body to feel this experience?!
Amongst ants, the follower obtains knowledge through its leading tutor. Both leader and follower are acutely sensitive to the progress of their partner with the leader slowing down when the follower lags, and speeding up when the follower gets too close!
The brief tutorial session ended abruptly. Exasperated, I look into my computer to shift between various pages and links. The Teacher calls me over to show something on her computer screen. I move closer to her seat. The energy I draw from this woman is amazing. I wish I could stand there for ever!
Standing beside her and watching her closely, I think about the fact that I still owe her my 'Dakshina'. A couple of ants had already strayed on to her blouse and I wanted to walk up and remove them before they ventured else where but restrained myself with a warning to the theacher. "Poor things, let them be", she said.
I wonder when my debt will be cleared...!
Should I "Keep It Short and Simple"?, I ask to myself. I think I owe her more than that. She is more than a teacher to me. Should I wait, more, for the Teacher to ask? Maybe she will not.
Ants, do you have an answer?
